Pete was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, and moved to Texas at the age of five. Raised in a deeply artistic family, creativity surrounded him from an early age. His grandmother, a gifted artist, was one of his earliest inspirations, while his paternal grandfather worked as a wood carver—further shaping Pete’s appreciation for craftsmanship and visual expression.

Pete began painting in elementary school and started working with oil paints as early as five years old. His passion for art developed naturally and steadily, eventually becoming not only a lifelong pursuit but also his profession.

Murals have become the foundation of Pete’s career and remain his primary livelihood. He specializes in both residential and commercial murals, using his work to evoke nostalgia and tell visual stories rooted in place, memory, and experience. In addition to mural work, Pete has an extensive background in scenic art, set design, and set manufacturing, including professional work created for SeaWorld.

As a young artist, Pete was mentored by several influential teachers. Ahuva Shweiki introduced him to foundational artistic principles, while Carl Ambry and Jerry Alexander—during his time at the San Antonio Art Institute—allowed him to attend classes free of charge. Under their guidance, Pete studied basic composition and discipline, often restricted to working with only three colors to strengthen his understanding of form, balance, and visual impact. Jerry Alexander later introduced Pete to the gallery scene in San Antonio, proudly presenting his work to a gallery owner on Broadway.

Today, Pete’s work reflects decades of hands-on experience, technical skill, and a deep respect for traditional artistry. His career stands as a testament to dedication, mentorship, and a lifelong commitment to creating meaningful art.
