Capturing life in motion is what sculptress Lenell Deane enjoys most about her artwork. Many of Lenell’s sculptures depict experiences from her childhood, living on a ranch in South Texas. Nowadays she draws inspiration from her life on a small ranch near Kerrville, Texas. The antics of living in a rural setting and growing up as native South Texan has provide Lenell with a rich cache from which to sculpt.

“As a child, I got a taste for riding and had many wonderful experiences on the ranch.  I cherish those memories. Ranch life get in your blood, and regardless of how far you stray from the sounds and smells of country life, you’re never are really satisfied until you are back. I’m fortunate to live on a small place in the Texas Hill Country, which I share with four horses, a small cattle herd, and one dog.”

Lenell says, “My initial interest in fine art began with painting. However, I soon found that the three-dimensional art form came more naturally to me and provided total freedom to create.” She credits many fine sculptors, whose workshops she has attended, with giving her the “know-how” to improve and create fine work. To ensure every detail of her subject matter is authentic, she devotes hours to researching and photographing the subjects. She claims, “I try to capture a flowing, frozen motion so the viewer can feel the next movement. Each sculpture is a special and remembered moment in time, which comes from within. My hope is that everyone who sees my work can recapture and re-experience a pleasant memory.”
